It has been close to 10 years since we last went to Fraser's Hill and with the long weekend and school holidays in December, we headed up for a short break. Now, the funny thing is that warm clothing was brought for the kids, as for us adults, we just thought that Fraser's Hill would not be as cold as it used to with the other two highlands (Genting & Cameron Highlands) filled with development and all ....
Alas, it was not to be ... we reached Fraser's Hill, greeted by some landslides (already cleared) and lots of rain. So, the result was ... cccccccold !!! (and very wet 'coz of the rain)
First stop was Restaurant Hillview which is just off the famous 'clock tower/round-a-bout' and right opposite the public restroom ! Just what we needed !!
After that we proceeded to check into the Pine Resort. This, being a very old resort, was a bit run down I must say. The cemented stairways leading to the apartments were not clean at all. There was rubbish around and some cobwebs too. The apartments were quite old too. I saw some mold around the gas burner in the kitchen too. Water pressure was very low as well.
Luckily, we came prepared! I had brought along a can of disinfectant spray, steamboat pot, induction cooker, pots, pans, utensils, bowls, paper towels, dishcloth, table cloth, dishwashing detergent, scouring pad ..... I even brought my own sleeping bag and towels. First thing we did was to 'disinfect' every bed in every room, every sofa, carpet, etc. Then we wiped all the tables and plastic chairs and we never opened the gas stove to use !!
All this hard work made us hungry. It was still raining so we couldn't have our planned picnic by the waterfall. In the end, we had all these sandwiches in the apartment.
