Boo Hoo Hoo :-(

19 December 2008

It's 3 in the morning and I am still trying to get everything back into my computer. It 'crashed' this morning and the only way to 'save' it was to get it brainwashed (reformatted the pc !) I have actually got so many more posts coming PLUS I even had quite a few shots of Christmas decorations around KL/PJ area. Well, I guess it would have to wait till after Christmas as I would not be free to blog for this week. Sigh.

Sorry guys/gals !! Sigh, sigh, sigh ....

Anyway, do have a Blessed Christmas and an even Greater New Year in 2009 !!

Restaurant Ken Kee, Ulu Yam

08 December 2008

On our way back from Fraser's Hill we had lunch at this restaurant near Ulu Yam. The noodles are very tasty but they were unlike what I used to have at this other restaurant in Ulu Yam (in the old days!). The fish we had was very fresh and the soft shell crabs were not too oily.

Fraser's Hill

07 December 2008

It has been close to 10 years since we last went to Fraser's Hill and with the long weekend and school holidays in December, we headed up for a short break. Now, the funny thing is that warm clothing was brought for the kids, as for us adults, we just thought that Fraser's Hill would not be as cold as it used to with the other two highlands (Genting & Cameron Highlands) filled with development and all ....

Alas, it was not to be ... we reached Fraser's Hill, greeted by some landslides (already cleared) and lots of rain. So, the result was ... cccccccold !!! (and very wet 'coz of the rain)

First stop was Restaurant Hillview which is just off the famous 'clock tower/round-a-bout' and right opposite the public restroom ! Just what we needed !!

After that we proceeded to check into the Pine Resort. This, being a very old resort, was a bit run down I must say. The cemented stairways leading to the apartments were not clean at all. There was rubbish around and some cobwebs too. The apartments were quite old too. I saw some mold around the gas burner in the kitchen too. Water pressure was very low as well.

Luckily, we came prepared! I had brought along a can of disinfectant spray, steamboat pot, induction cooker, pots, pans, utensils, bowls, paper towels, dishcloth, table cloth, dishwashing detergent, scouring pad ..... I even brought my own sleeping bag and towels. First thing we did was to 'disinfect' every bed in every room, every sofa, carpet, etc. Then we wiped all the tables and plastic chairs and we never opened the gas stove to use !!

All this hard work made us hungry. It was still raining so we couldn't have our planned picnic by the waterfall. In the end, we had all these sandwiches in the apartment.

Lucky Loke in SS3

06 December 2008
My Grandma was back staying at my parents' place and we took her out to dinner that night. While we were walking from the house to the car, we could smell the aroma of our neighbour's cooking. It smelled something like Ginger Chicken Stir Fried with Chinese Wine!! We headed over to Lucky Loke and when ordering, made a request for this dish too ! Heh heh !!

Lammeeya @ 1 Utama

05 December 2008
This restaurant just opened for business today and we happened to pass through this section of 1Utama (new wing). Decided to give it a try since it has been quite some time when we last had Lam Mee !! It seems that this is actually a branch of the original lam mee stall in PJ State (near PJ Hilton, JPJ, ...). Well, if I have a craving for Lam Mee and am too lazy to drive all the way down to Pudu Road, this is a good try plus it's air-conditioned and clean too !

Rakuzen Restaurant & Fitou Brasserie

04 December 2008 - Met up with a friend for lunch at Rakuzen Restaurant at The Waterfront @ Park City. This is actually a branch of the Rakuzen Restaurants in KL. Too bad though, they do not have the buffet lunch every Sunday like their other outlet at Chulan Square, Kuala Lumpur.

After lunch we went over for some drinks at Fitou Brasserie and I saw some pots of flowers that looked really nice. Enjoy the shots !

Restoran Cozy Corner

03 December 2008

There are many restaurants at Jaya 33 along Jalan Semangat and somehow or other we had not come to have any food here before. Since we were at the supermarket (Jaya Grocer), we decided to have lunch to try out the food here. Surprisingly the food is quite good and not too expensive either. The waiters and waitresses were also very nice !

Chocolate Banana Cupcakes & Banana Muffins

26 & 27 November 2008

I bought a recipe book from Popular Book Store and found this recipe quite interesting. It is actually a recipe for a Chocolate Banana Cake but I've made them into cupcake size. The presentation (as you can see) is not up to standards yet but the taste, according to some family and friends, is good ! Brought these 'cupcakes' over to our friend's house in Seremban to celebrate their son's full moon day and they liked it ! Only thing is I didn't decorate the cupcakes as per 'full moon' thingy !!

My father's friend gave him lots of bananas from his orchard and that is why I decided to make these two banana bakes ! Below is the Banana Muffin that I made with the recipe from the same book that I bought. Only modified it slightly to cater to my family's tastes !

Grand Imperial Restaurant

30 November 2008

This restaurant opened just about a week ago at Bangsar Shopping Centre. We were there for a puppet show (Aesop's Fables II) by the Actors Studio on Friday and saw the banner for the restaurant. Decided to give it a try and found it to be quite good. They serve Dim Sum by the way, plus the usual Chinese dishes. We tried the Dim Sum and it was to our liking so we came again on Sunday.

I'm not sure if they change chefs on different days or it was because they were very new, but I thought the Dim Sum tasted better on Friday than on Sunday. Or maybe there were too many people visiting the restaurant which led to a slight drop in the quality and taste ?

Fitou's ... again ?

28 November 2008

Yup! We went to Fitou's again, but we tried some different dishes this time ! It was one of our neighbour's birthday and so we came here for dinner. One of the main reasons was to drink the 'tower' beer. (forgot to take a picture of it though!)
The Wild Boar Stew and the Iberian Pork Ribs were actually specials of the day. I think I prefer the dishes we had when we came here the first time. The Wild Boar Stew was 'so-so', and the Iberian Pork Ribs were alright but the portion was too small (and not cheap too).
But, the company was really good and we enjoyed ourselves, eating and drinking beer and chit chatting till it rained so very heavily !!
