One of those crazy days when we splurged on movie tickets! I still think it is crazy to this date !
Anyway, we went to watch the much hyped 2012 at the GSC Signature cinemas at The Gardens.

Was too hungry to wait till after the show to eat, so we had a steak burger!

After that, we went for the set dinner at Crystal Jade.

Saw them renovating this shop and it turned out to be a new restaurant in the Bandar Menjalara area of Kepong. Gave it a try and it is not too bad. They also have steamboat but that is not served in the air conditioned area.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. I have not tried authentic mid western food before, so I can't say if this is how or what it should taste like .. but if you like lots of fried stuff or stuff with barbeque sauce , this is the place to come to !

This restaurant is in a short row of shops in Kampung Tunku and where RHB Bank used to be, next to the Mobil Petrol Station. If I'm not mistaken, one of the chefs was formerly from Sam Yau Restaurant in PJ State (new town). Food's good here but remember not to go there too late on a Sunday evening, it's packed !!

For a cheap meal for the family, this may be the place to go. They also have a fishing pond next to the restaurant ! But bear in mind that it is extremely packed by 6.30pm !! When we went there for dinner one night, we had to wait nearly an hour for our food. Maybe we should have gone there later, like after 7.30pm?

This restaurant prides itself in buying the produce fresh from the market everyday. They also do not believe in pre-cooking their dishes to ensure the freshness of what is served. Which is why they would keep a record of what their customers like or dislike .. for example whether they can take their tom yum extra hot or not and so on. So, before going there for your meals, all you have to do is give them a call, let them know who you are and they'll just whip out your records and serve your food to you just they way you like it !

A simple chinese restaurant in Taman Desa. Food is not too bad but the restaurant gets a little bit too noisy when it is crowded. If you intend to go on a Sunday, it's best to be early (before the crowd) !!

I quite like this 'twin style shang yee' dish. It'll be good after a cool, rainy day !

We were looking for something to eat and wanted to try a new place, somewhere we had not been to before ..... so .. Yuzu it was !

This dish was recommended as it was the tomato season in Japan. It seems the tomatoes used in this salad was specially flown in all the way from Japan .. so it is 'fresh'.Well, we did order it and it was really as fresh as they told us it would be !! Sweet, juicy tomatoes with some greens, yellows, purples ... refreshing !!
The sashimi also tasted fresh and good !!Ebi tempura ... the prawns were a little too small for me !! Prefer it if it were bigger prawns !The wagyu is juicy and tender. It's like eating fat and letting it melt in your mouth !

Didn't get to try out too many dishes but from this selection, I'd say it's worth going back for more !!

This restaurant is also owned by Tai Thong group and is in Tropicana City Mall, PJ. If you happen to be there shopping or just browsing around, the food here is not that bad. Was rather worried at first about trying the food there but after doing so, I didn't regret it !!

If you ever get a craving for Wagyu this is THE place to go !

The bread & butter are on the house and you can even get them replenished !! Believe me, you would, the bread is really good. Warm, when they serve it to you!

These cookies came with the coffee we ordered, but I was really full by that time so I asked for a 'doggy' bag !See how beautiful it is ?!

Had dinner here with my parents' friend. Wanted to go to another restaurant, but it was not opened that day, so we ended up here, thinking it was a branch of the old Foong Yit in KL !

Maybe they just made use of the name 'coz none of the 'old time' food were served here !

Food was alright but nothing fantastic.

We mostly go to Old Town White Coffee, Kluang Station, ... but have not tried Pappa Rich. We have passed by this kopitiam but really, have not given it a try. So this day while we were driving around and waiting to meet someone, we came here... Pappa Rich !

In fact, I would say that I prefer the bread and drinks here than Kluang Station. :-)

Had our dinner here on a Saturday night. The restaurant is not totally packed but there were some diners here.

This soup is really good. It feels like you're drinking some oat drink but the texture's really good and the taste is good too !

Tried taking this dish, one with the flash on and the other without. Hmm... which is better ?

Today is the day we head back to KL and so another round of binging before we leave !
This is another quite famous coffee shop in Pulau Tikus. It was raining in the morning and also when we were there so I couldn't take a photo of the shop from the outside !

We tried the curry mee from this stall.Tried Penang Prawn Mee, again.

Also tried the Kueh Chap which I didn't find too good.And for dessert, we had the Raisin Pancake !

In Penang it's quite common to have a little plate/dish of home made stuff placed onto your table for you to 'try'. If you like what you have tasted you can then purchase the goodies from the lady who just placed the samples for you to try. If you don't, it's alright !!!

The coffee shop is next to this Pulau Tikus Plaza.Which is opposite this school.

After breakfast it was back to the hotel, pack and check out.

An old 'coffee shop' in Ipoh called Thean Chun. You can say that this is a very nostalgic place to have your meal in Ipoh ! For me it is ! We have been coming here since 'my grandfather's time' !!!

The satay is absolutely yummy, delicious ..... (I'm feeling hungry now!!)

In Ipoh, taugeh & sar hor fun is a must !

The popiah is alright too!

A speciality in this coffee shop is the freshly squeezed orange juice & the caramel custard, another two of my favourites !!

Another eating trip ! We tried to squeeze in as much food as we could in this one day, but some of the food had to be bought from the morning market !! So, being very smart, we had someone do the buying for us so that we could have it for tea !!

Our first stop is to this restaurant in Ipoh, Pasir Puteh to be exact. There is another 2 restaurants with this same name (but in Chinese) in Pusing and Jalan Horley. The story is that the first restaurant in Pusing and its branch in Jalan Horley used to have 2 or more owners. One of them decided to come out on his/her own and opened this one in Pasir Puteh. So, it is not in any way related to the other 2 outlets. But nevertheless, the menu and the look of the restaurant is nearly the same !!

Oh, by the way, the other 2 are known as Pusing Public Seafood Restaurant.

When you arrive and take your seat and order the food, you will be served a bowl of porridge !

Did we really look that hungry ??!

The food here is really good and I wouldn't mind coming again to eat !!

Next stop, Kampar for some nostalgia !

My mother used to come here often when she was little and as with all the shops in old towns... this one has been around for 3 generations !

Brunch with my parents today! Not because we're celebrating Fathers' Day but, just because. Most people would think our family is wierd. We don't celebrate stuff like Fathers' Day nor Mothers' Day. We find it very commercialised. To me, it's like ... why must we only treat our parents nice on these two supposedly special days? Why do our parents need to wait just for these 2 days to have something special ? If you'd noticed, all restaurants/eateries will be fully booked and packed with people dining on these days. Sigh ...

Anyway, enough about my own opinions !!

I liked this dish. Tasted really nice with white wine and all. Pizza was good as well. Hmm... looking at it now makes me wanna eat it again !This dish is so-so only (to me that is).Coffee is ggggooooooddddd !!!!

Yup! Another birthday celebration means 'makan' time again. Remember in my previous post I mentioned my sister in law giving birth to her baby? Well, she was in confinement after that and so we couldn't go out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. Well, since we were celebrating my brother's birthday in June, we decided to celebrate her belated birthday too !

Woke up to yet another hazy morning. Sigh. Anyway, when in Penang one must eat. And so another day of eating began!

Breakfast @ One Corner Cafe

Our friend told us about this super hokkien mee the night before and how we must try it. Well, here we are and he really did mean what he said !

I am not too sure what the original, authentic Penang Hokkien Mee is like but this one didn't taste like what we usually have. Well, for one it doesn't have the Kangkong in it. But it tasted alright anyway !

The Har Kou Chee Cheong Fun here is nothing to shout about. The one at Georgetown is much better !

Hmm... I prefer Fried Kuey Teow elsewhere !

After breakfast we headed over to somewhere covered ... Queensbay Mall. Hahaha! Since it was so hazy we couldn't do the outdoor touristy thingy. And after walking around and walking so much, we were finally hungry for food !

Lunch @ Lorong Selamat

When we were here the last time all we had was the Fried Kuey Teow by 'Goggles' (dish is shown above) so this time around we decided to order some of the other food to try.

OK, to me, the Har Kou Chee Cheong Fun here is better than what we had in the morning over at One Corner Cafe. But Georgetown is still the best !

We have always gone to Penang and had all sorts of Penang food. From hawker delights to restaurant food. But, we have never tried nasi kandar. This time we did and it was certainly an experience !

After our late lunch we went back to the hotel to give our stomachs a rest and to freshen up and by 5.30pm we were here at 'Line Clear' to have a taste of our nasi kandar ! I asked our friend why this place was called Line Clear ? It was all because of what happened a long time ago... there were a lot of customers at the stall .. some were eating and some were selecting their food. Hot dishes were also being brought to the counter and so you can imagine the amount of traffic at the little lane ! So... when people tried to get through the crowd, they started shouting .. "Line Clear, Line Clear"!!! That's how the name of this place came about !

After the very filling early dinner we couldn't eat anymore. So, supper is a must ! Again, our friend brought us to this eatery along Burma Road. It seems this place was recommended in a television programme.

The prawn mee is slightly different from what we had in the morning as this one comes with more varieties and also kangkung !

The chicken we had with the porridge was alright and quite smooth. The porridge was not too bad either.

Went for a short 3 day 2 night eating holiday (what else!) to Penang. We were to meet up with our friends at the rest area near Ipoh. I called up this shop in Simee Market to order my favourite egg tarts the night before and on this day, we left earlier to head to the market to collect our goodies.

When we were on the Penang Bridge heading into Penang Island, there was this thick haze enveloping the entire skyline on the island. And we thought we'd left it all back in KL ! What to do but spend more time indoors! We arrived at the hotel and didn't really go anywhere except for our usual hawker stuff at Georgetown. Then, for dinner we went to G Hotel for their Japanese food.

This is what was included in the set dinner we ordered !!

This, is a separate order of Sashimi that we had.

The set dinner came with Green Tea Ice Cream for dessert.

The Hokkien Mee stall a few shops away was actually 'THE' one to go to but then, their business grew and the owner became rather cocky so now that this stall has opened, the business started piling up here. Maybe it's because they've just opened and all, but I still prefer my Hokkien Mee over at SEA Park.

A friend of ours bought a GPS thingy (Garmin) and we wanted to test it out. Was supposed to think of some restaurant at the far corners of KL or something like that and then make use of the GPS to take us there. Hahaha! We ended up here 'coz we were too hungry and it was already late. I think the last time I came here was more than 10+ years ago and again, at that time this restaurant was an expensive place to go !! Now that I've come here again, I don't find it that expensive anymore !!??

Another place we haven't been to in a long time !! Came here for lunch. My father mentioned an American Express promotion where you get to order a dish and get the second dish free (the free one being the cheaper one !!) Anyway, we also have the Starwood Privilege Card that entitles the holder to a free meal, meaning if there are 2 persons dining, you only have to pay for one and if there are 3 persons dining, you only pay for 2 persons and so on...

We ordered our food and then calculated which promotion to make use of ... we settled for the Starwood Privilege Card promotion !

It's been a while since we came here for the Pan Mee and today, I just found out that what used to be Mr Pau's Kopitiam is now Restoran Sepetang !! The stalls in this 'kopitiam' are still the same though. Only 2 new ones... one sells wan tan noodles and the other .. Kolo Mee ! OF COURSE we had to try out the Kolo Mee !!

.... well, I still prefer the Kolo Mee in Kuching !

Mothers' Day was coming and this is what Vietnam Kitchen had to offer for the 'celebration'. We didn't eat all these on Mothers' Day but a week earlier!! Portion was quite huge and I find it quite tasty and worth it as well.

Wow! It's been eons since I came here for a meal. Today we came and luckily the food was still alright. I looked at their name card and found that they even have a branch in Kepong already !
There were only four of us having lunch so we couldn't order too many dishes. Besides it was a really hot day so ...

We did it! We came to Leonardo's to try out their new supper menu ! When we came here the last time, they told us that they would be launching something new to be served as supper for the 'supper' crowd. Here it is, the Bak Kut Teh and Hokkien Mee at Leonardo's !!

The Bak Kut Teh could be a little more tasty though. Something was missing... we guessed that it may be some secret ingredient that the original Klang Bak Kut Teh fella didn't give them !! The Hokkien Mee was alright and is nearly there too !! Maybe they should just take away the fried fish slices and replace that with pork slices instead. But there is enough 'granules' (lard) for me !!

I thought this place only sells dinnerware and some furniture but when we came here looking at furniture, we found that they have a cafe as well. I suppose, if you are selling dinnerware and furniture, might as well cook some food and sell that too right ? Food was not that great to me but this may just be the place to see and be seen. While lunching there, I saw a group of our local actresses and singers having an all girls get together. They were really enjoying themselves, eating, chatting and laughing !!

Yup! This is what we ate, among the 6 of us !! My favs are the Antipasto and the Risotto. Dessert was a little sweet but not too bad ! Pasta was not extremely fantastic and oh yes.. they do not serve pizza !
